Beauty in life

This is my second post in a series, where each Monday I will post about a point of reflection or insight that I will use to reflect and meditate on during the week. In order to make it a bit more focused and interesting, I will attempt to do this with topics beginning with letters from A to Z. I have often found that having a specific topic to reflect and/or meditate on during the week really lends itself to interesting insights and growth, because you not only have several days to reflect and meditate on the topic, but you have several days to put any lessons and insights that you discover to work in your every day life. For those that follow me on Twitter (@JasonLivingNow) I will try to write updates as the weekly topics come up during meditations, moments of reflection, or just during every day life. To view the current and previous entries in this series, please visit the: Reflections and Insights A Through Z section.

B= a Beautiful Life:  Life is truly the most amazing miracle of all, just being alive, right here right now is a beautiful and wondrous gift. it is truly awe-inspiring, and humbling, when you take a step back and look at the infinite sequences of events that had to occur for you to be here right now: from the big bang to the formation of life on our planet, to the evolution of our species and the unbroken chain of ancestors that have struggled to make each of our lives possible.

As you may have already read in the About the Author Section, the motivation for this blog began with my own quest to truly live life to the fullest, and live in the now by trying to fully experience each moment of life. I used to be the type of person who always thought that happiness was around the next corner (stage of life), or would surely be found after I accomplished the next goal. I was also the type of person who thought that if I did what other’s expected of me, then I would find happiness. Therefore, it was truly liberating when I came to the realization that I could indeed find happiness in there here and now, I merely needed to tap into the beauty and mystery of life that constantly surrounds each of us. I also came to the realization that I needed to do the things that made me happy, and live the life that I wanted to live, rather than a life that other’s expected of me.

I firmly believe that each person possesses the keys to unlocking fulfillment and happiness in each moment of life; however, in order to accomplish that you must choose to do so. To me, living in the now and living a happy and fulfilled life is all about your mindset, and what you choose to focus your attention and energy on. If we choose to focus on the negative aspects of life, then we naturally become negative. However, if we choose to be happy, and focus on positive things, and the beautiful mystery of life that surrounds each of us, then we will naturally be a happier and positive person. This doesn’t mean that we won’t have ups and downs in our lives, or face difficult times; however, by having the mindset to focus on the positive, rather than getting bogged down into the negative, we can greater handle the bumps of life. In fact, staying positive in the midst of negative times can actually deepen your appreciation and enjoyment of life, by putting negative aspects into perspective.

Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before, how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way, and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever.– Isak Dinesen (Karen Blixen)

Practical Tip: Throughout the week, if you begin to get bogged down in the negative aspects of life, try to stay upbeat and positive by focusing on the positive aspects of life (rise above negativity). Also, try to set aside time to meditate or reflect on just how miraculous it is to simply be alive, and give thanks for your many blessings.

I would love to see comments what living a beautiful life means to you, how you find beauty in life, or if you wish to use the topic living a beautiful life as a point of reflection during the week I would love for you to share any insights that come up.

Please come back next week for the next installment of this series, and as always if you enjoyed what you read, please share on social network sites, subscribe to this site, and share this site with others!

Someone once said “you can’t find your way to happiness, happiness IS the way”.

Learning to live in the moment is amongst the first of the keys to a successful happy life.

That is very true, and it is a difficult thing to put into practice, but it is well worth the attention and effort. Thanks for commenting!

I think having the right attitude is half the battle. It’s so easy to get bogged down in negativity. That’s not to say we have to be all Love and Light all the time, though. When life gets me down, I choose sarcasm. It helps me laugh and put the situation in a better perspective. Great post!

Rumi said ” Your task is not to find love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it” – I love this and I think it counts for living a beautiful life too. Underneath the barriers there is beautiful precious life and love.
What a great blog you have!!

Living life now is an important message. But to do so you have to understand the patterns of your life as well. Otherwise you can still be unhappy – the now can seem empty. ‘Now’ on its own is not enough..

    1. Jason E. Marshall

That is very true. In order to enjoy the now, you need to have some sort of foundation and understanding that brings peace which can be enjoyed in the now. Thanks for commenting!

Hey! It is a pleasure meeting you as well! I enjoyed your post! I think it is fascinating how our mental actions/thoughts impact our external world.
